General Rotation playlists keep your station online by automatically playing tracks whenever there are no scheduled events.

Having at least one General Rotation playlist is essential for AutoDJ to work seamlessly. Even a brief gap between scheduled events will be filled by General Rotation, ensuring uninterrupted playback for your listeners.

โš–๏ธ Playlist Weight

Tracks in General Rotation are selected based on a weighted random system across all enabled General Rotation playlists.

  • Use the checkbox under the General Rotation heading to set a playlist as a General Rotation.

  • Higher weights increase how often a playlist is selected.

  • Lower weights decrease frequency.

  • Tracks are then picked randomly according to the defined weights.

๐Ÿ”€ Playback Order

You can control how tracks are played from your playlist:

  • In order: Tracks will play sequentially.

  • Shuffled: Tracks will play in a random order for more variety.

This allows for a tailored listening experience, depending on the style of your programming.

โœ๏ธ Editing a Playlist

Clicking the Create Playlist or Edit (pencil icon) button opens advanced configuration options specific to General Rotation.
These settings apply only to General Rotation playlists, not to calendar-based scheduled events.

๐Ÿ•’ Schedule

Under Schedule → Play Hours, you can define the active hours for each General Rotation playlist.

  • By default, playlists are active 24/7 (from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM).

  • You can customize this to create time-specific rotations (e.g., morning or evening programming).

๐Ÿ”„ Repeat Protection

Repeat Protection prevents the same track, album, or artist from playing again within a set period or after a certain number of plays.

This feature keeps your station’s programming fresh and dynamic, avoiding repetition that could affect the listener experience.
